Dream Time. Many of my paintings have the iconic Sugar Loaf Bluff in the background symbolizing Winona, my home for ten years and part of a larger region Known as the Driftless Area. Formations like Sugar Loaf are unique to this region of the Mid West and resulted because the great glaciers bypassed this area leaving the craggy bluffs and deep river valleys. In fact, Sugar Loaf is a man made phenomena formed from a mining operation but its form to me, and others (Including Aditi C., my muse for this piece) has become the dreamlike reference point known as “home”. Was featured at the MN Marine Art Museum and now on display at the Division One art gallery, Buffalo, MN, through June 16th.
